Naked Man Jumps from Bar Into River, Has to Be Rescued
A man was pulled from the Ohio River on Sunday evening after stripping naked and leaping from riverfront bar.
A call came into Campbell County Dispatch at around 7 p.m. that a man head jumped from the Beer Sellar at 301 Riverboat Row in Newport and was floating in the river. Officers on the scene from Newport, as heard on the police scanner, tried to keep an eye on the man as he bobbed in the high water.
He floated from the Beer Sellar to between the Purple People Bridge and the Taylor Southgate before eventually floating all the way to Covington between the Roebling Suspension Bridge and the Clay Wade Bailey.
Covington Fire Department's Water Rescue unit pulled the man from the stream.
A witness at the Beer Sellar told The River City News that the man appeared to be highly intoxicated and was in probably in his mid-forties. According to the witness, the man stripped off all his clothers and managed to free himself from a group of people trying to prevent him from jumping into the river.
The man's condition and whether he would face any charges was not immediately known.
This story will be updated when more information is known.
