Cold Spring Gets Another New Mayor - But Only for a Few Minutes
The City of Cold Spring has grown accustomed to changing faces in the mayor's seat at city council meetings - and another new mayor took over on Monday night.
But this one was temporary by design.
Honorary Mayor Kadyn Dalton called the meeting to order in front of his smiling parents seated in the crowd.
As the regular meeting got underway, Mayor Angelo Penque told council that the Cold Spring senior get-together brunch would be held on May 14 in the Community Room of the city building. To secure a spot, residents may call the clerk’s office at 859-441-9604 to make reservations.
30-year vet Mike Disney has been assisting Cold Spring veterans and “he’s very good at what he does,” helping those in the community who have served our country, Penque said. Residents in need of help toward receiving their benefits are advised to call the city building to gain any assistance they may need.
A second reading of ordinance 16-1026 was passed, adopting the amended budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2015-June 30, 2016. Furthermore, a second reading of ordinance 16-1027 was passed by a 5-1 margin, adopting the annual budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2016-June 30, 2017, in addition to the associated pay plan. Councilmembers Roger Jones, Christopher Ampfer, Brenda Helton, Lisa Cavanaugh and Adam Sandfoss favored the reading, while Lou Gerding dissented.
Councilman Adam Sandfoss reminded voters that the primary election is coming up on May 17.
The city is looking to fill a great need for volunteers for its upcoming 75th anniversary later this summer with interested participants encouraged to call the city office.
