Midsummer Harvest Benefit Picnic Coming to Mainstrasse Village

On Sunday, June 12, Mainstrasse Village will be transformed for an urban picnic benefitting Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

The Healthy Roots Foundation’s annual Midsummer Harvest event gathers the Cincinnati area’s top sustainably focused chefs to prepare a local, organic, and sustainably raised feast to help raise awareness of the link between food and children’s health.

Money raised at this year’s event will support the Integrative Care Team at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital as it develops health education programs and treatment options to empower patients and their families. Part of the donation will be used for the advancement of Integrative Care board certification as well as advance registered dietitian education. Additionally, the money will be used to fund the new Build-it-Bites program, a weekly cooking workshop for patients and their families. Whole Foods is providing the ingredients and recipes for healthy snacks and meals to encourage a healthy lifestyle.

“We’re thrilled that the money from this year’s Midsummer Harvest is going to Integrative Care Team for this new program,” said Anne Schneider, founder of The Healthy Roots Foundation. “Build-it-Bites is a unique way to help families in the hospital, and it’s a great fit for our mission.”

The Midsummer Harvest event will include a presentation from Dr. Carina Braeutigam, Medical Director, Integrative Services and Staff Physician, Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. The lunch will be accompanied by live music from The Tillers.
