Edgewood Postpones Fireworks, Concert Amid Severe Weather Threat
The Independence Day Parade departed as planned on Monday morning, but the evening festivities have been postponed in Edgewood.
The city announced in a news release that the annual 4th of July concert and fireworks at Freedom Park have been canceled for Monday and will take place on Tuesday, July 5, at 7 p.m., weather permitting.
The severe weather threat has landed the entire Northern Kentucky region under a flash flood WATCH, according to the National Weather Service which expects showers and thunderstorms to develop this afternoon and continue into the evening. The storms will have the potential to produce localized heavy rainfall which could cause flash flooding, the NWS said.
Monday's forecast calls for a high of 77.
The rest of the week appears to be hotter, with thunderstorms continuing to dot the forecast.
It is expected to be mostly sunny on Tuesday with a high near 87, and thunderstorms return to the picture on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, with high temperatures in the upper 80s or low 90s.
