Weekend: Newport Oktoberfest, Taste of the Levee, Wine in Ludlow,

Some fun events are coming your way this weekend in the Northern Kentucky River Cities - and it looks like summer is extending its stay during these first days of fall, with high temperatures in the upper eighties and sunny skies.

Oktoberfest Newport

Riverboat Row, Newport. Friday, 5 - 11 p.m.; Saturday, noon - 11 p.m.; Sunday, noon - 9 p.m.

Oktoberfest Newport bills itself as the "most authentic" in the area - big words for a region that includes Mainstrasse Village's annual affair, and, of course, Oktoberfest Zinzinnati - both of which just recently passed.

The event is produced in the style of "Munich Oktoberfest" with a large Fest Tent sponsored by German Beer Breweries. There will be food, beer, and music in each tent.

Admission is free. For more details, call 513.477.3320.

Taste of the Levee

The tenth annual Taste of the Levee returns to Newport on the Levee, Saturday, September 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Here's what's on the menu: Axis Alley, BRIO Tuscan Grille, Brother’s Bar & Grill, Dewey’s Pizza, Dick’s Last Resort, GameWorks, Greek Burrito, Mitchell’s Fish Market, Redondo Taqueria, and Tom + Chee. Each food sampling is $3 or less.

“It’s a great experience for the whole family! While browsing through the food booths, festival-goers may vote for their favorite dish. We will also have live music and street performers providing entertainment between bites,” said Peggy Cook, Marketing & Event Coordinator at the Levee.

Entrance to Taste is free and this year’s event is sponsored by Cincinnati Bell which is the provider of free Wi-Fi to the entire center at Newport on the Levee. This feature allows guest to always have access to hassle free Wi-Fi while visiting the Levee. "The Newport on theLevee leadership immediately grasped the benefits of providing a premium Wi-Fi experience that benefits residents and visitors alike. It's our goal to provide internet access to the masses and bridge the digital divide. We look forward to future expansion throughout The City of Newport and beyond," said Rob Scott with Cincinnati Bell.
