Former UK Basketball Coach Gillispie Hospitalized
Two troubling stories emerged last week involving former UK basketball coach Billy Gillispie who is now the head coach at Texas Tech. First, ESPN ran an article with the headline "Mutiny at Texas Tech" detailing an unhappiness among his players with Gillispie's coaching style. Secondly, it was learned that Gillispie, 52, is in the hospital after experiencing what he thought was either a heart attack or a stroke:
"It was the worst I've ever felt," said Gillispie, who was hospitalized and told his blood pressure was at a dangerous level. He called 911 at about 5 a.m. Friday after experiencing severe pain, he told the Lubbock newspaper.
Gillispie was fired after two seasons at Kentucky when his last team failed to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
