State Senate Candidates to Debate in Covington Monday
The candidates for the state senate district 23, which includes all of northern Kenton County and most of Covington, will debate Monday night at the Ninth Street Baptist Church in the city's Eastside. Doors open at 5:30PM for a chance to meet talk personally with the candidates while the debate starts at 6:30PM. Republican Chris McDaniel, a Taylor Mill businessman, and Democrat Jim Noll, an attorney and member of the Villa Hills City Council, are both seeking to replace the retiring Jack Westwood (R-Erlanger) in the state senate. Tonight's event is moderated by local author and attorney Rick Robinson and features panelists Ryan Alessi of cn|2, Scott Wartman of the Cincinnati Enquirer, and Michael Monks of The River City News, all asking questions.
The format will allow for opening statements, three questions that each candidate will have the same amount of time to answers, four minutes of direct questioning to each candidate from each panelist, and then three candidate-to-candidate questions, all followed by closing remarks. The event is sponsored by OASIS, Inc.
