Remembering Latonia's Barb Cook
Barb Cook, she of the West Latonia park named in her honor, passed away Monday. She was 74.
Born Barbara Arlene Cottengim on May 5, 1938, Cook became a familiar community activist throughout Covington. She founded the Covington Neighborhood Watch and served as its president. She received the Kentucky Public Safety Recognition Award and the Governor's Award for Outstanding Service in Crime Prevention. Cook was active in numerous associations across the city.
Cook is survived by her husband John Louis Cook, daughter Lisa Donnelly, sister Diane Fessler, two grandchildren, and two nephews.
Cook's visitation is scheduled for Friday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home in Latonia from 9:00AM until the funeral service at 11:00AM. She will be buried in Mother of God Cemetery in Fort Wright. A celebration of Cook's life will follow at Twin Oaks in Latonia.
