Gateway College to Announce Urban Campus Master Plan
Gateway Community & Technical College will unveil its master plan for its urban campus in Downtown Covington Wednesday afternoon. According to a news release, the event will provide a full description of the Campus Master Plan, its historic impact on the community’s economic and educational future, and its capacity to transform Northern Kentucky’s urban core.
Last month Dr. Ed Hughes, president of the college, announced the school's purchase of the former Marx Furniture building on Madison Avenue in Covington, the first big move toward fully realizing the long-anticipated urban campus. City leaders have often cited the urban campus as a "game changer" in the effort to revitalize the urban core.
Hughes will announce the plans Wednesday at 1:30PM inside the school's urban center at 525 Scott Boulevard (the former Two Rivers Middle School). He will be joined by representatives of Lexington-based EOP Architects.
