Police Find Marijuana Operation While Looking for Burglar
A Covington man is in jail after Kenton County Police say he broke into a home on Mills Road in Independence. Officers were responding to a call of a possible prowler and when they arrived at the address they discovered a door unlocked. Inside, they found Devin Mason, 21, of Covington and arrested him but they also found a significant marijuana grow operation.
The home is being rented by two people who were not home at the time and have not returned since Mason's arrest on Tuesday. Police are looking for Ronnie Friskey, 34, and Gilda Trevino for questioning after five hundred marijuana plants, pot growing equipment, and a large amount of cash were removed from the residence.
Mason, meanwhile, faces two counts of first-degree burglary, four counts of second degree burglary, and one count of theft in an amount over $500. A female juvenile was also arrested at the scene and charged with first degree burglary. Investigators suspect Mason in multiple burglaries across the county over the past few months, two of which involved firearms.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Ronnie Friskey or Gilda Trevion is asked to call the Kenton County Police Department at 859.356.3191 or Crime Stoppers at 513.352.3040.
