Meet Covington's New Business Development Manager
From the City of Covington:
Naashom Marx is not your typical Kentucky girl, or maybe she is? Growing up, she was influenced heavily by religions, cultures and the space around her. Her adventurous ways first took her just across the United States to the top of the Grand Teton and over to Regis University in Denver where she received a BA in Liberal Arts. At 28 she found herself standing in the densely populated country of Bangladesh not only dressed like a native but speaking Bangla as easily as English.
As a United States Peace Corps Volunteer, Marx served in Bangladesh from 2003 to 2005. She is an alumna of the University of Cincinnati where she was a Peace Corps Fellow and received a Master's Degree in Community Planning which focused on economic development. Upon graduation she was hired by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Bangladesh and Uganda to bridge gaps between the non-profit and for-profit worlds. She focused on economic development that helped the underserved populations.
Over time Marx missed home and moved back to Kentucky. She is coming to the City from the Northern Kentucky Area Development District where she was the Director for the Kentucky Innovation Network program. Her focus was to help entrepreneurs bring innovative business ideas into commercialization and create more knowledge based jobs in the rural communities.
As Business Development Manager, Naashom's role is to work with the community to recruit, recognize and retain businesses that make Covington a great place to live, work and play. You can contact her at 859.292.2168 or [email protected].
