Man Indicted in Robbery, Murder of Teen in Covington

Days after Kenton County Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Sanders told The River City News to watch for a new indictment in the murder of Brett Thornberry, Christopher Richard Hill, 23, was indicted on a charge of murder and first degree robbery. Hill was arrested in Cincinnati in September in connection with the case. Charges against Hill at that time were second degree escape, tampering with a prisoner monitor device, failure to appear, and persistent felony offender.

Romello Rice, 18, pleaded guilty in the murder case on November 19. "Rice agreed to testify against other participants in the crime in exchange for a recommended sentence of twenty years in prison," Sanders reported via Twitter that day. Rice is expected to cooperate with the Commonwealth in its case against Hill and a teen who remains in the juvenile court system. No decision has been made yet on whether that teen will be tried in adult court.

Thornberry, 18, was found shot to death behind a house on Greenup Street on December 20 last year.
