Mother Charged With Murder in Death of 4-Year Old
An Ohio County mother has been charged with murder in the beating death of her four-year old child. The Kentucky State Police announced Monday that new charges were filed against Samantha Oakley and Nathaniel Tucker, who had already been charged with murder. An Ohio County grand jury added charges Monday following the couple's October arrest which added murder to the charges against Oakley and one count of persistent felony offender against Tucker.
Both are being held at the Ohio County Detention Center in Hartford.
On October 22 the pair was arrested two days after a four-year old was taken to an Owensboro hospital with life-threatening injuries. A preliminary investigation indicated that Nathaniel Tucker was watching Samantha Oakley's three, four, and five-year old children at their residence in Hartford. The three and five-year old children suffered trauma ranging from bruising to a spinal fracture of the tibia. The four-year-old child was later transported to Cincinnati Children's Hospital where the child was removed from life support and died.
Samantha Oakley is the mother of all three children. It is alleged that she knew of the abuse and failed to properly report it to authorities. Nathaniel Tucker is an acquaintance to Oakley.
