bioLOGIC, the Covington-based life science accelerator, has announced a new development in one of its companies' plans to commercialize a platform expected to set a new standard in cell sorting. Here is the news release:
bioLOGIC, a Covington based Life Science Accelerator is pleased to announce that its sister company, Propel Labs, Inc. has partnered with Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:BIO and BIOb) to commercialize a platform setting a new standard in cell sorting.
Due to their size, complexity and maintenance, cell sorting instruments have been traditionally found in shared research service facilities. The compact size, ease-of-use, and affordability of the new system, S3™ Cell Sorter, offers individual researchers the ability to conduct cell sorting on their bench-top.
“This partnership unites Propel Labs’ formidable expertise in cell sorting instrumentation with Bio-Rad’s manufacturing know-how and global sales and marketing presence,” said Brad Crutchfield, Bio-Rad Vice President and Group Manager, Life Science Group. “Together with Propel Labs, Bio-Rad is delivering the first cell sorter that meets the basic needs of most researchers at a very affordable price point.”
“The S3 Cell Sorter (Avalon) achieves a new benchmark in price, performance and ease-of-use, “said Tidhar Sadeh, Propel Labs President and CEO. “This partnership provides a global presence to ensure the highest level of performance and support for life science customers.”
“This exciting collaboration between Propel and Bio-Rad exemplifies the growth opportunities we expect other bioLOGIC companies to achieve,” stated Keith Schneider, managing director at bioLOGIC. “With the myriad of services bioLOGIC can provide to emerging life science companies, we hope to accelerate their pathway to commercialization and achieve market success.”
