Paul to Clinton: "I would have relieved you of your duties."
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) issued a news release Wednesday with the headline, "Had I been president, I would have relieved Secretary Clinton of her duties". The release came not long after Paul questioned Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about the attack on the United States embassy in Benghazi, Libya, and included a YouTube video of the exchange from the senator's channel. Paul is a new member of the Senate foreign relations committee at which Clinton appeared Wednesday morning.
From USA Today:
Paul blamed Clinton for a "failure of leadership" in the government's response to violence in Benghazi that left four Americans dead, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens, and said it was the "greatest tragedy since 9/11." He criticized Clinton for not reading classified cables about security concerns in Benghazi.
"Had I been president at the time and I found out that you did not read the cables ... I would have relieved you of your post," he said. "I think it's inexcusable."
Both Clinton and Paul have been suggested as possible presidential candidates in 2016. Here is the video (if player does not appear, click here):
