First Building Taking Shape at New Covington Housing Development
The housing development River's Edge at Eastside Pointe is making progress. Built on the site where the Jacob Price housing project once stood, River's Edge is a federally-funded project guided by the Housing Authority of Covington in the city's Eastside neighborhood.
The first building, on Greenup Street, which expects to have tenants moving in this spring, is in the process of having its second floor added. It will be a three-story building.
Eventually there will be 120 apartment units for varying income levels, some of which will be subsidized while other units will be market-rate and senior housing. HAC's announced goal is complete the construction on the west side of Garrard Street, which is being extended through the new development, then move to the east side of the street, though work will continue on both sides consecutively.
