Police Chase in Covington Leads to Evacuation of Apartment Building

An overnight police chase on Madison Avenue resulted in a foot chase that led to the evacuation of an apartment building on Scott Boulevard. Shawn Williams, 23, was eventually found hiding in the apartment building's attic.

WCPO reports:

Police pulled over a speeding driver on Madison Avenue in Covington at about 2 a.m. When police found a gun in the vehicle, the driver— who had prior offenses— fled from police on foot.

The suspect, Shawn Williams, led police on a chase until he ran inside a home with multiple apartments on Scott Boulevard. Police surrounded the building and started evacuating everyone inside. One couple and their baby came down a ladder because they thought the suspect was inside their apartment.

The apartment’s owner, who was awake when the suspect entered the home, gathered his family and barricaded themselves into a room. The apartment’s owner pushed out a window air conditioning unit to escape and alert nearby police.
