Economic Development Announcement Coming Monday in Covington

An economic development announcement will be made in Downtown Covington Monday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. Lieutenant Governor Jerry Abramson will join Covington Mayor Sherry Carran and Campbell County Judge-Executive Steve Pendery at the Artisan Enterprise Center.

A news release from the Governor's office provides no further details and did not expand upon why Campbell County's judge-executive would be In attendance with no mention of other Kenton County leaders.

It is possible that the announcement is related to Westpack, LLC, a glass-making company that was awarded incentives from the state and the city to locate somewhere in Latonia. That company is expected to create more than sixty new jobs with an average wage of $18/hour.

At the last city commission meeting, Mayor Carran said that she expected Governor Steve Beshear to attend the announcement, but the Governor will be in West Liberty Monday to announce new reconstruction efforts for the tornado-damaged city.

The River City News will have comprehensive coverage of the announcement right here immediately afterwards. Follow live updates on Facebook and Twitter.
