More Signs of Progress at Eastside Residential Development

From the Housing Authority of Covington:

It's March! I was always told that if March came in like a lamb, it would go out like a lion and vice-versa as it pertains to weather. As today is cold and rainy, as most of the weather has been for the past couple of months, we may be looking for a bright sunny April 1st.

At the beginning of this week, I took the rare opportunity of photographing the River's Edge at Eastside Pointe in bright sunshine. It was a treat for me to stomp around the site, take pictures all the while having the opportunity to enjoy the weather.

As you can see by these pictures, things are moving along. The roof and interior mechanics are being put into place as are windows on the building at the corner of Greenup and E. Robbins Street. We have a number of foundations and slabs poured on site with the underground plumbing and electrical items completed.

The east portion of the site is still being compressed (surged) in an area or two. This should finalize getting the ground properly prepared for the buildings.

The parking lot on the west half of the property has been graded and is being used as a place to deliver prefabricated walls and roof trusses. This is great for the site personnel that were trying to keep them out of the mud. Rumor has it that three people have had to leave their boots behind in the mud at one point or another to get to drier ground.

As planned there will be two buildings that will consist of eight one-floor Senior Cottages on the site located closest to 11th Street. At this point, we are working on the largest and the smallest buildings that will go on site. Very soon you will see multiple buildings in process at the same time and by the end of the year, you will see the entire site complete with families moving in. It will be a wonderful time for the Eastside Community.

For those interested, there will be a meeting at the Housing Authority of Covington, 2300 Madison Avenue to discuss the Eastside Historic Garden design to be built at the entrance. This meeting will be held on Monday, March 26th beginning at 4:30.

As always, enjoy what is left of our winter. Look forward to spring, and we will keep providing news points and pictures as River's Edge at Eastside Point grows.
