CVG Named Best Regional Airport in North America
From the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport:
In a manner befitting Kentucky's rich horse racing tradition, CVG has achieved a Triple Crown in the world of airport awards, being named Best Regional Airport in North America for the third straight year.
SkyTrax, an independent, London-based air transport research organization, surveyed more than 12 million passengers covering more than 385 airports around the world to determine its awards, which are based on 39 different airport service and product factors, including check-in, arrivals, transfers and gate departures. The results are based on unsolicited customer-survey responses, with no subscription or membership required for an airport to be included.
“The World Airport Awards are recognition of something we see every day - thousands of professionals who make up our CVG community stepping up to ensure our passengers have a wonderful travel experience,” said James Huff, chairman of the Kenton County Airport Board. “It is only fitting that a Triple Crown winner come from the great Commonwealth of Kentucky. We thank our employees, business partners, passengers and many supporters from the Greater Cincinnati region for again placing us among the world's best.”
The World Airport Survey was established in 1999 and is held in high esteem for clarity of process
and rigorously applied rules of total independence. Questionnaires were completed by airline passengers of more than 100 different nationalities over a period of nine months. CVG was acknowledged on April 10 in Geneva, Switzerland as part of the 2013 World Airport Awards.
“Receiving this recognition three straight years provides us with a proven track record of easy access, outstanding customer service, on-time performance and top-notch product and service offerings,” said Candace McGraw, CVG's CEO. “This would not be possible without a dedicated and committed workforce and tremendous support from our airline and business partners. The CVG community always goes the extra mile for its customers.”
CVG is the leading airport in a three-state region. Airlines at CVG currently offer 174 daily departures to 47 non-stop cities and 37 of the top 40 U.S. markets. Half of the U.S. population is within an hour's flight of CVG.
The airport is reinventing itself in many ways to enhance passenger travel, including a completely renovated Concourse A. The $36 million facelift and reconfiguration improved the passenger experience with enhanced ticketing, free Wi-Fi, new carpet, renovated/ upgraded restrooms, new paint and furniture, and extra side tables and electrical outlets/USB ports at every seat.
The airport's four runways reduce the need for weather-related or other congestion-related delays.
And, the airport was first in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana to receive the Transportation Security Administration's popular Pre-Check program, a pre-screening process that allows passengers to move quickly through a designated security checkpoint lane at CVG without having to remove shoes, jackets, belts, laptops, and liquids from carry-on baggage.
