Woman Killed in Ft. Mitchell Robbery Attempt
UPDATE (Wednesday afternoon): Police have identified the victim as 18-year old Michaela C. Briede, a student at Thomas More College.
UPDATE (7:47 a.m.): Kenton County Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Sanders reports via Twitter: "Ft Mitchell homicide was NOT a random act. Residence was apparently targeted. No arrests yet. Investigation continues." He also said, "Violent crime rare in FtMitchell but having 50+ yrs experience in Chief Jeff Eldridge & Det Ron Wietholter is priceless when it happens."
A woman was shot to death inside a Ft. Mitchell apartment around midnight during a home invasion, WXIX reports.
Police report that at least one suspect forced his or her way into the unit before shooting the woman and fleeing the scene.
A gun and a dog were recovered.
The killing happened at The Vinings apartment complex and no one is in custody, WKRC reports.
A red Dodge pick-up truck was spotted fleeing the scene shortly after the shooting, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer.
The victim's name has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
