Ex-Bengals Cheerleader's Libel Trial Against Website Begins in Covington

A former Bengals cheerleader and high school teacher wants $11 million from a gossip website that she claims defamed her.

Sarah Jones pleaded guilty last year to charges that she had sex with an underage male student but that plea was unrelated to the posts at The Dirty, a website that claimed Jones had sex with many Bengals players and had STDs. Jones claims that the posts were untrue and caused her mental anguish.

The suit ended in a hung jury in January.

Nik Richie, the alias used by The Dirty's operator, took to Twitter to make light of the re-trial.

"Headed to Kentucky to drop off a check," Richie tweeted on July 5 with an Instagram photo of a check made out to Jones for $11 million with "Child Molester" written in the memo.

"RE-trail w/ sexual deviant child predator Sarah Jones starts July 8, 2013. A new jury will decide if I should cut her a check for 11 million," he tweeted on June 25.

The trial will take place at the federal courthouse in Downtown Covington.
