UpTech Announces New Class of Start-Up Businesses to Start in Covington

UpTech, Northern Kentucky’s business accelerator that is in the process of moving to Covington's Pike Street, has announced its final class of winners for the UpTech II program.
 
Eight start-ups will receive up to $50,000 in equity investment along with office space, professional support services, and applied research assistance from Northern Kentucky University.
 
 
“We are thrilled to announce UpTech’s second class of winners,” said Amanda Greenwell, UpTech program manager. “Our ultimate goal is to fund the best and brightest early-stage informatics companies that will complement the foundation of a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in our region.”
 
The winners are aligned to the applied research capabilities of NKUs College of Informatics. The companies were vetted through a rigorous selection process that enlisted the top entrepreneurial experts from the region. 
 
“UpTech handpicked the region’s most successful business owners, investors, entrepreneurs, and community stakeholders to select our next round of winners. The selection process demonstrates our community’s commitment to foster entrepreneurial excellence and the desire to invest in the region’s economic development,” said Casey Barach, co-founder of UpTech.

3DLT.com: Recently named “Innovative World Technology” by SXSW V2V, 3DLT.com is the "iStockphoto" for 3D printable designs.
 
Bearhug Technologies, LLC: Bearhug Technologies is a web-based, connected care platform for behavioral health providers. It enables behavioral health providers to securely use the Internet to locate, connect, and communicate with other healthcare professionals.
 
Bright!Tax: With clients in over 50 countries worldwide, Bright!Tax is a cloud-based, US income tax preparation firm most sought after by the six million Americans who are living abroad. 
 
Inteo: Inteo is an interactive tool for mathematics-based studies which continually measures and updates student performance. The software provides real-time insight into student achievement, which helps teachers tailor coursework and assess preparedness for state exams.
 
Liquid: Liquid builds mobile software to collect, store, analyze, and organize any and all data.
 
New Home Marketing: New Home Marketing Services (NHMS) is helping home builders better understand their business opportunities and their competitive landscape with the world’s first customized, real-time data portal to daily marketplace activity. NHMS provides powerful data tools through an easy-to-use dashboard that allows for enhanced decision-making regarding inventory management and profitability.
 
Tixers: By trading your tickets to Tixers, they guarantee the value of your ticket, and you receive points(credit) almost immediately that you can use for other tickets on Tixers.
 
Touritz: Touritz allows local historians and tour guides to create and upload walking tours and videos, which can be viewed and downloaded to mobile devices. Touritz is cultivating a community of tour creators to share local landmarks and historic sites, art gallery and museum tours, scenic locations, and family destinations.

UpTech’s new class will officially begin on September 9th at their new location on Pike Street in Covington, KY. In addition to UpTech’s equity investment into each of the winning startup companies, the business accelerator will provide:
 
• Six months of free office space
• An executive mentor
• A dedicated team of essential business professionals providing financial, legal, 
accounting, sales, and marketing support services
• One-year Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce membership
• One-year Greater Cincinnati Venture Association membership
• Access to resources from Northern Kentucky University’s Center for Applied 
Informatics
• Opportunity to hire NKU students with an interest in entrepreneurship
• Availability of follow-on fundsto successful companies who need additional
funding to advance their ideas
