The Battle for Covington
Holmes and Holy Cross kick off the high school football season as the Bulldogs and Indians bring their rivalry to the gridiron on Friday night.
The game is at Holmes at 7 p.m.

Scott plays at West Jessamine at 8:30 p.m.; Covington Catholic is at Boone Co. at 7p.m.; Newport is at Campbell Co. at 7 p.m.; Newport Central Catholic hosts Ashland Blazer at 7:30 p.m.; Bellevue welcomes Walton-Verona at 7 p.m.; Ludlow hosts Gallatin Co. at 7 p.m.; Dayton plays Bishop Brossart at Scott on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Kenton Co. Pet Fair
The Sixth Annual Pet Fair hosted by the Kenton County Animal Shelter is Saturday.
It's a day of fun designed for your four-legged friends.
The event features games, music, the Northern Kentucky Parrot Rescue, raffles and more.
The Pet Fair runs from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Kenton County Animal Shelter on Mary Laidley Drive (off 3-L Highway) in South Covington.
Small Fry Tri at Pioneer Park
The first annual Small Fry Tri hosted by the American Cancer Society is set for Sunday, August 25 at Pioneer Park in Covington.
The Small Fry Tri is a miniature triathlon for kids ages eighteen months to eight years. The children will run a few yards, hop on a bike or big wheel (brought from home with a helmet), and finish by running through sprinklers.
Each participant gets a ribbon and a prize.
The event is from 1:30 - 3:30 pm.m
Vendors and raffles will also be available.

CrossFit End of Summer Throwdown
CrossFit Covington is hosting what it calls its "biggest competition yet", the End of Summer Throwdown.
The event is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with the Friday schedule running from 5 - 8 p.m. (for check-ins) and from 6:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday at the track & field at the Eva G. Farris Sports Complex on Virginia Avenue.
Sunday's events will be at CrossFit Covington (812 Russell Street) from 7:45 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Spectators are invited to watch for $3 a day or $5 for the weekend.

Cupid Beach Party
The Cupid Undie Run and Our End of Summer Throwdown are partnering up. On Saturday at the Track and Field, we will have a table set up to promote the Cupid Beach Party. If you offer a $10 donation to the Cupid Undie Run fund, you will in exchange receive a wristband that gets you into the Cupid Beach Party at Arnie’s on the Levee AND a FREE DRINK TICKET for the party. The party starts at 2PM and moves on through the night.So head on out after the competition to Arnie’s for the Cupid Beach Party! It will be some great entertainment for you spectators and especially you out of towners!
