Eighth Arrest Made in Murder of Covington Teen
The parade of arrests continues Thursday following the Sunday night shooting death of a 19-year old Covington man in Austinburg.
The latest to be placed in custody is Jamell Darden, 20, who was booked into the Kenton County Detention Center at 4:14 p.m. Thursday. Darden is charged with murder in the death of Desean Peterson.
His arrest followed the Wednesday night booking of James Young, 18, also charged with murder.
On Tuesday, six teens were arrested, five of them charged with murder and another charged with tampering with physical evidence. Two of those teens are underage juveniles being held in Campbell County while three are in the Kenton County Detention Center without bond.
On Wednesday morning, Covington Police Chief Spike Jones and Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney Rob Sanders said that the shooting of Peterson resulted from a feud between two rival factions of youths.
Wednesday evening saw Peterson's Austinburg home swarmed with mourners, some of whom danced in the streets to the aspiring rapper's music.
All suspects have pleaded not guilty except for Darden who will appear in court for the first time on Friday morning.
