Photos: Crash Knocks Down Traffic Lights

UPDATE (Wednesday 7 a.m.): As of late Tuesday night, this intersection's traffic lights had been replaced by temporary stop signs. Drive with caution in the area.

ORIGINAL POST (Tuesday 10:30 a.m.):

A senior citizen driving an SUV north on James Avenue dropped his cane and went to reach for it. That move led the man to veer off the road past Eastern Avenue and right into a utility pole.

The man was unhurt, Covington Police told The River City News, but was a little shaken up.

Traffic lights ended up in the intersection at James and Eastern and emergency crews and Duke Energy were on the scene redirecting traffic away from it.

Northbound traffic was sent down Eastern Avenue while southbound vehicles were forced to Madison Pike.
