Murder Victim Remembered by Former Holmes Coach
The 19-year old former Holmes student gunned down in Austinburg on October 27 is remembered by his former high school football coach in a column at the Cincinnati Enquirer Thursday morning.
Eight people, including seven teenagers, are behind bars accused in Desean Peterson's murder. Several of them will be in Kenton County District Court on Thursday afternoon.
While at Holmes, Peterson was a standout member of the football team:
Stephen Lickert is in his third season as head coach at Campbell County, but he coached at Holmes from 2007-10 and remembered the confidence Peterson exuded as an eighth-grader in 2008.
“I remember him as an eighth-grader telling our coaching staff he was going to start varsity football as a freshman,” Lickert said. “He not only started as a freshman, but he was outstanding as a freshman. I definitely think he had the confidence and all the physical tools to develop into a major college prospect had he chosen to play college football.”
