Police: Woman Stole Older Lady's Card, Spent $1,200 at Target
Police are looking for a woman believed to have ripped off an elderly woman who walks with a cane.
On Monday, the older woman was in a Newport grocery store when the unknown suspect approached her asking for help in retrieving an item from a shelf. The older woman could not help her and the suspect walked away, but then the older woman realized that her wallet was no longer in her purse.
The woman called the bank to cancel her debit card but was told that it was used to make $1,269 worth of purchases at Target. Surveillance video shows the same suspect, an African-American, and an unknown white female, using the card to buy Apple iPads.
The pair made off in a vehicle that is only visible on the video for a second but police believe it be gold with four doors.
