Planned UDF in South Covington Moving Forward, Company Says
A United Dairy Farmers location planned for South Covington is moving forward, a representative of the company told The River City News.
UDF purchased a piece of property at Hands Pike and Madison Pike in an area of the city that has recently seen the arrival of an IGA Express and Emerson's Bakery.
While at the Taylor Mill City Commission meeting last week, Tim Kling, real estate director for UDF, said the project was moving forward. The company is exploring the possibility of opening a location in the new Downtown Taylor Mill.
The City of Covington allowed the property to be re-zoned to allow for fuel pumps which would pave the way for a UDF to open.
However, Kling said, the road was reconfigured in that part of Covington after the company acquired the property.
A neighborhood leader told The River City News that he was told by a company official that the change in traffic flow may limit the amount of cars that would pass the proposed location and that UDF may consider selling the property to allow someone else to develop it.
On Wednesday night, Kling said that the plans for a South Covington UDF are still in motion.
