Defending State Champs Knock Off Holmes at Buzzer

In a rematch of last year's second round Kentucky Sweet 16 game, Madison Central came out on top over the Holmes Bulldogs again.

This time, with a heart-breaking three-point shot at the buzzer.

At Rupp Arena last season, future Mr. Baksetball and current University of Kentucky freshman Dominique Hawkins helped Madison Central hold off Holmes.

This time, the Indians were boosted by junior Kirkland Humphrey's last second shot for the 81-80 victory.

Holmes junior guard James "Beetle" Bolden scored 36 in a losing effort for the Bulldogs.

A pair of missed free throws that could have sealed the win for the Bulldogs with just a few ticks left on the clock gave Madison Central the opportunity to set up its game-winning play.

The Bulldogs beat Highlands on Friday night before traveling to Madison Central Saturday.

Next up for Holmes, now 19-4 on the season, is Boone County at home Tuesday night, where an alumni celebration event is planned.
