Friends of Bellevue Award 2 Scholarships at New Riff's First Public Event
The Friends of Bellevue held its annual dinner Wednesday night at the New Riff Distillery in Newport.
State Rep. Dennis Keene (D-Wilder) presented the organization's two scholarships worth $1,000 each to high school seniors Kendal Talon and Zach Poinsett. The awards came complete with a plaque engraved with a proclamation from Frankfort signed by Keene and Speaker of the House Greg Stumbo.
According to the Friends of Bellevue, the dinner was the first public event at the New Riff Distillery, which opened this month at the Newport-Bellevue border.

The buffet dinner and silent auction bookended the event which was emceed by Joe Neary of Dayton and featured remarks by city councilwoman Carol Rich.
The Friends of Bellevue is a civic organization dedicated to bringing residents, workers, and other groups together in the city while preserving and enhancing the small town quality of life in the community through cultural enrichment, activities, and projects designed to foster pride and encourage positive social and economically diverse development.
