Survey Finds the 50 Safest Cities in Kentucky, 13 in NKY
The website Safewise released its list of the 50 Safest Cities in Kentucky as part of its efforts to inform potential home buyers about certain areas.
To come up with the list of 50, FBI Crime Report data from 2012 was analyzed in cities with a minimum population of 3,000. The crimes were broken into two categories: violent crimes (murder, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault) and property crimes (burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft, and arson).
The results were calculated to be occurrences out of 1,000 people, the site stated. Cities that did not report complete data to the FBI were not included.
None of Kentucky's largest cities was included.
According to Safewise, the safest city in Kentucky is also its ritziest: Prospect.
While Northern Kentucky's most populous cities were left off the list, twelve cities from the region did make the cut:
4. Villa Hills
11. Highland Heights
12. Ft. Thomas
13. Independence
18. Taylor Mill
19. Edgewood
