Two Covington bars have been recognized as two of the nation’s best spots for sipping the original Kentucky spirit, Bourbon whiskey.
Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar (OKBB) and Wiseguy Lounge, both in Mainstrasse Village, made the list.
The list of America’s Best Bourbon Bars, compiled by Bourbon Review out of Lexington, is the publication’s second annual review of the nation’s Bourbon-focused establishments, featuring sixty bars across the Northeast, Midwest, South, and West regions, as well asBourbon Country.
OKBB and Wiseguy were two of eighteen bars recognized in Bourbon Country.
Wiseguy, which originally opened in Lexington in 2005 before opening a shop above Goodfellas Pizza at 603 Main St., cultivates a speakeasy theme mixed with ultra-
technical mixology practices, offering well over 100 different types of Bourbon, best sipped on their back patio. Wiseguy also touts a 2013 Woodford Reserve Manhattan Competition winner.
OKBB is located just down the street at 629 Main, and was opened by Molly Wellman, who also owns Japps in OvertheRhine (Japps was also included in Bourbon Review’s list). OKBB rivals Wiseguy in its Bourbon selection, and offers a slightly more intimate atmosphere than its counterpart, with some outdoor seating right on Main.
Here’s Bourbon Review’s full list of the nation’s best Bourbon bars of 2014.
