This Covington Childcare Facility Just Scored a 4-Star Rating
A Covington child care facility just scored the highest rating possible.
Kentucky’s STARS FOR KIDS NOW Program has awarded a 4-STAR rating to Children, Inc.'s Gardens at Greenup Child Development Center. STARS FOR KIDS NOW is a voluntary rating system for licensed and certified child care programs. Programs are given a 1 to 4 star rating, and all STAR levels are measurable quality indicators above the state minimum requirements.
The measurable quality indicators for STAR rating ensure smaller child-to-staff ratios, higher training credentials for staff, increased family engagement, and quality in curriculum, in addition to other measures that are associated with good outcomes for youth.
“We are thrilled to be able to serve the community’s children with high quality early experiences at Gardens [Child Development Center],” said Children, Inc. Executive Director Rick Hulefeld, in a statement. “All children deserve the chance to succeed, and families ought to have access to these programs. It is essential to offer these programs affordably in Covington neighborhoods; children are tomorrow’s leaders, philanthropists, builders, and teachers.”
Childcare programs that participate in STARS FOR KIDS NOW are eligible for achievement and incentive awards that will help to maintain and increase quality standards. Child care professionals can access a college scholarship fund, and have technical assistance from specially trained personnel to assist their program in meeting the quality standards that are a part of STARS FOR KIDS NOW.
Gardens at Greenup provides care for children ages infant through five at 11th and Greenup Streets in Covington. It is the seventh Children, Inc. center to receive a 4 STAR rating; the other six centers are also located in Northern Kentucky, and are the only programs in the northernmost three counties to hold this rating. Only 19 other childcare programs throughout the state of Kentucky have been awarded 4 STARS.
