Awesome! Pie! Movies! Covington!

To celebrate the group’s third birthday, the Awesome Collective of Covington (AC) is throwing a party – and dishing out free pie – in Orchard Park on Thursday, September 25 from 6 - 9 p.m.

The event, which will be held in the vacant Grow the Cov lot at Orchard and Locust Street, will feature a free screening of two short films, pie from local bakeries, refreshments and popcorn, music, free screen printing, activities for kids, and a backyard sustainability workshop hosted by Keep Covington Beautiful and Sanitation District 1.

The workshop will be held from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. and the first of two films will begin at 8 p.m.

The first movie, Index of Awesome, was created by the AC last year and features several Covington businesses and organizations that were selected to be a part of the project by the public through an online poll.

The second film was produced by the Center for Great Neighborhoods and highlights the organization’s Shotgun Row project.

As part of the celebration, the Center for Great Neighborhoods will host an open house across the street on Orchard beginning at 5 p.m. and has invited the public to tour a few of the homes on Shotgun Row. Wine, snacks, and other refreshments will be provided and the tours will run until 8 p.m.

Other partners expected to attend the celebration include COV200, Grow the Cov, the Covington Farmers Market, and Westside Action Coalition, among others.
