This Downtown Covington Building is Being Torn Down

Update: More photos are now added as the entire building has been razed.

A Downtown Covington building began a forced crumbling to the ground on Tuesday as a demolition crew showed up.

The building most recently housed offices and horses associated with a carriage company.

It is to be razed to make way for a new building that will house health programs at Gateway Community & Technical College. The neighboring Emergency Cold Shelter of Northern Kentucky and the former Mad Hatter music venue will also be razed as part of the new college development.

The college, the city, and the county are working with the shelter to find a new permanent home and no demolition will take place prior to that relocation.

Demolition took place most of Tuesday morning and afternoon and stalled in the early evening with half the building remaining. The remainder is expected to be brought down soon and more pictures of that event will be posted here then.
