Midnight Brunch at Covington Cafe Promises Late Night Decadence
What is Krispy Kreme bread pudding?
Find out midnight as Saturday night becomes Sunday morning and brunch is served at Blend, the coffee and lunch spot on Fifth Street in Downtown Covington.
"This is a special event that is focus on the local restaurant and bar workers that get off of work and have nowhere to go to get a kick-ass brunch," Blend wrote on its Facebook page. "Now, this doesn't mean that the 'civilians' aren't invited. It just means that the food is going to be for 'foodies'!"
Blend hopes to sell out of everything it makes on the special occasion that runs from midnight to 3 a.m.
The meal starts off with appetizers like fruit and cheese ($6), Belly Three Ways (pork belly with braised jalapeno jelly, braised sweet and sour, and chocolate sea salt - $9), and Yaka Mein (a New Orleans classic noodle soup - $6).
Then, proceed to the main course: Cho-melette (an omelet stuffed with potato hash and cheese, and includes a lime salsa and chipotle pecan pesto - $8), vegetarian benedict (corn cakes and veggies - $8), and Pork Wellington (pork tenderloin wrapped in a puff pastry with country ham and sweet potato puree - $10).
The meal ends with Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding ($6). "Yeah, I know, this is ridiculous," owner Bobby Maverick writes on the menu.
