Sports Briefs: High School Soccer, Volleyball Postseason Match-Ups

9th Region Tournament
--Cooper plays Newport Central Catholic at Ryle on Tuesday at 6pm.
--Covington Catholic plays Dixie at Dixe on Tuesday at 7:30pm.
--St. Henry plays Holy Cross at St. Henry on Tuesday at 7pm.
--Highlands plays Boone County at Highlands on Tuesday at 7pm.
--The winners of the first-round match ups will play each other at Highlands on Thursday with the first game at 6pm and the second game at 8pm, then the final will be played also at Highlands on Saturday night at 8pm.
9th Region Tournament
--St. Henry plays Newport Central Catholic at St. Henry on Monday at 7:30pm.
--Ryle plays Beechwood at Ryle on Monday at 7:30pm.
--Notre Dame playes Dixie on Monday at Ryle at 5:30pm.
--Highlands plays Boone County at Highlands on Monday at 7pm.
--The winners of the first-round games will play at Ryle on Wednesday with the first game at 5:30pm and the second game at7:30pm. The final will also be played at Ryle on Saturday at 5pm.
--Northern Kentucky University mens' team continues as they lost their third straight match, this time at Jacksonville, 2-0. The Norse have not won a match in their last six attempts and are now 2-7-4 on the year. They have yet win an A-Sun game so far in 2014.
--NKU womens' team fared better over the weekend, as they beat Kennisaw State, 1-0, on Saturday. The games only goal was scored by Jessica Frey. The Norse are now 6-7-3 on the year and travel to Tennessee Friday to play Lipscomb.
--Thomas More men have improved their season to an impressive 11-2-1 record after beating Waynesburg, 1-0, on the road. Alex Panaro scored the only goal in the game's final minute to lift the Saints to a victory. Thomas More stays on the road and will play Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday.
--Thomas More women continue to dominate as they recorded their sixth straight shutout with a 4-0 win over Waynesburg on Saturday. The Lady Saints are 15-1 this year and are ranked 10th in Division III womens' soccer. They also play Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday night.
36th District tournament
--Holmes takes on Covington Latin at Holmes on Monday at 7pm.
--The winner of that game will play Notre Dame Academy at Holmes on Tuesday at 6pm.
--Meanwhile, Beechwood plays Holy Cross at Holmes on Tuesday at 7:30.
--The final will be played at Holmes on Wednesday at 7pm.
--Thomas More volleyball is keeping up with its soccer programs as they have now improved their record to 22-3 this season after taking care of Washington & Jefferson on the road on Sunday in three straight matches. The Saints return home to play Bethany College on Wednesday. They have now won 11 of their last 12 games.
--NKU volleyball suffered a loss to Florida Gulf Coast University on Saturday, dropping their record to 13-7 so far this year. It took four matches to determine the outcome against FGCU but the Norse were outlasted three games to one. They host Lipscomb on Fridaynight next on Volleyball Alumni Night at the Bank of Kentucky Center.
