Oprah Winfrey Dons Covington's Fabulous-Furs on Cover of "Favorite Things" Edition of O Magazine
Oozing glamour and luxuriously wrapped in fur, Oprah graces the December cover of her name-sake monthly: O Magazine.
But it's not just any fur, it's faux and it's from Northern Kentucky's Donna Salyers' Fabulous-Furs. "We're especially proud we made Oprah's favorite coat right here in the USA," said President & Founder Donna Salyers.
Becoming one of "Oprah's Favorite Things" is no small process.
"We were about to have a company cookout on our dock when I heard from O Magazine," Salyers said. "It's memorable because I had to skip the July 3 picnic and get started on pattern work after first explaining to our group that something really good was happening. I never allowed myself to believe it was happening until I actually saw it in print!"
No stranger to the national spotlight, the company's faux fur ice scraper captured the first two merchandise pages of the recently-released Neiman Marcus Christmas Book. "Covington, Kentucky is a hub for luxury goods and the rest of the World is catching on," Salyers joked. At the other end of the spectrum, it was Donna Salyers' Fabulous-Furs that worked with the Cincinnati Zoo staff in creating "gorilla wear" handlers needed for raising baby gorilla Gladys, abandoned by her mother and ultimately transitioning to living a full, healthy life with her own kind.
Admittedly, gorilla-wear was a first for this company known for ‘the World's finest faux fur.' Celebrating its 26th year as a multi-channel business, Fabulous-Furs is better known for full-page fashion editorial in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, Cosmopolitan, Lucky and British Vogue, along with countless appearances on TV shows such as the Today Show, Tonight Show and Miss USA/Universe.
Donna Salyers' Fabulous-Furs is a leading multi-channel fashion retailer and vertically integrated manufacturer of women's coats, jackets, apparel, accessories, home goods and footwear, with a core focus on faux fur and animal print products. As a multi-channel business, Donna Salyers' Fabulous-Furs sells in over 3,000 stores, including brands such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and W Hotels as well as by catalog and the internet.
With a showroom located at 20 W. 11th Street in Covington, KY., the Northern Kentucky company makes approximately 60% of its products in its headquarters.
