Pickets Planned Near Bavarian Brewery Building
In ten days, the owners of the iconic Bavarian Brewery Building that towers along 12th Street near I-75 will appear before the Covington Urban Design Review Board to defend their request to tear it down.
Columbia Sussex, the Crestview Hills-based owner of casinos and hotels, purchased the building seven years in anticipation that Kentucky would expand gaming to allow for casinos, one of which would have likely operated in Covington. That effort failed and the building has remained vacant since Jillian's closed ten years ago.
Opponents of the proposed demolition - including Doug Newberry - have organized an online sign-up sheet for would-be protesters to pick up picketing slots this weekend and next. Click here for more information on that.
Newberry is seeking 15 to 20 people per shift to picket at the property on Saturday and Sunday afternoons leading up to the UDRB meeting.
