High School Hoops: Holmes, Cov Cath, Ludlow Roll
Covington Catholic 74, St. Henry 46
Cov Cath is now 2-0 on the season after easily taking care of St. Henry at home, 74-46. Sophomore guard Cole VonHandorf had a sensational game with 26 points on 9 for 14 shooting form the field. Backcourt mate Cooper Theobald also played an efficient game with 19 points on nine shots and only two turnovers. Stat-stuffing Senior forward Bo Schuh had another well-rounded night for Colonels with six points, four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and five steals.
The Colonels also played tight defense holding the Crusaders to 33 percent shooting from the field. Paul Wallenhorst was the only St. Henry to crack double digits, finishing with 10 points.
The Colonels head to Louisville this weekend where they will play the top-ranked team in the state, Trinity, on Friday and then play St. Xavieron Saturday.
Holmes 61, Brossart 37
Holmes won their first game of the season at Brossart on Tuesday night, 61-37. The Bulldogs lost their season opener to Henry Clay last week. They will next play at Harrison County.
Harrison County 85, Scott 79
After a 3-0 start to begin the season, Scott lost their first game to Harrison County, 85-79, on the road. The Eagles return with back-to-back games against Mason County and George Rogers Clark this Friday and Saturday night.
Ludlow 71, Calvary Christian 32
Ludlow held Calvary Christian to just 32 points in the game and only five in the fourth quarter, picking up their first win of the year. The Panthers ran out to a 19-8 first quarter lead and never looked back.
