Ready for an Awesome Time? Get to Covington Station for the Index of Awesome Launch
It was two years ago that the Awesome Collective of Covington dazzled the city with its newly launched zine, a small booklet created in a grassroots effort to promote the city its members care so much about.
The zine, known as The Index of Awesome, is back in a new edition and will be launched next week with a party at Hub + Weber's offices inside Covington Station (200 West Pike Street) on December 19 from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
The AC’s Index of Awesome highlights the people, places, and things that make Covington awesome.
This edition is special for the City of Covington’s bicentennial, and incorporates COV 200’s theme of past, present, and future. For the bicentennial, organizers also included a special COV 200 passport highlighting some of the weird, wacky, and unique places and unknown stories about Covington. The passport portion will act as a boarding pass for special TANK Greenline bus tours that are being planned as part of the bicentennial celebration.
The content for both The Index of Awesome and COV 200 Passport was submitted earlier this year through a community call for entries. All submissions were included in the zine with descriptions or “random words of awesomeness” limited to 200 characters in honor of the city’s bicentennial.
The free event will include complimentary catering and libations from Four Seasons Catering and DEPS as well as TANK Greenline Bus tours, fortune telling, and the opportunity to contribute to a Covington time capsule. Limited press “Covington Launching: The Next 200 Years,” screen-printed posters, designed by Cryptogram Ink, will also be available for sale.
This project was funded through a Center for Great Neighborhoods’ Place Matters Mini-Grant and a donation from COV200.
