High School Hoops: Holy Cross Girls Remain Undefeated, Cov Cath & Holmes Pick Up Wins
High School basketball round-up from RCN's Bryan Burke:
Covington Catholic 61, (Louisville) St. Xavier 56
Covington Catholic salvaged their Louisville road trip by playing a strong second half and beating St. Xavier (Lou.), 61-56, on Saturday night. The Colonels had lost the night before to top-ranked Trinity (Lou.), marking the only loss for Cov Cath so far in the early going of the season.
Sophomore guard Cole VonHandorf has become the go-to scorer for head coach Scott Ruthsatz, as he once again led the Colonels in scoring with 28 points. Senior guard Cooper Theobald has become a nice second-option and had another quality game with 19 points. Senior forward Bo Schuh recorded a stat in all five categories for the third time in four games and only needed a steal against Trinity to have done it in every game this season.
