Rough Start for Northern Kentucky Legislators as 3 Strike Out for Leadership Posts
The first day of the 2015 General Assembly was not a success for three Northern Kentucky legislators.
Rep. Dennis Keene (D-Wilder) did not succeed in his quest to become Speaker Pro Tempore, the number two leadership post for the majority Party. Instead, Jody Richards (D-Bowling Green) was elected by fellow Democrats. Keene had hoped to replace his longtime roommate, Louisville Democrat Larry Clark, in the role.
The vote went to a runoff before Keene was defeated.
On the Republican side, Rep. Adam Koenig of Erlanger failed to unseat Jeff Hoover of Jamestown who will serve his eighth term as Floor Leader. Florence Rep. Sal Santoro made a run for Republican Whip but was not elected.
Northern Kentucky has no legislators in leadership roles in either chamber in the General Assembly.
