Covington Catholic is looking for a new head football coach after the resignation of Dave Wirth.
The school announced Wirth's resignation on Tuesday. Wirth spent six seasons as the Colonels' head coach, achieving an overall record of 49-27 with four appearances in the regional title game. According to a news release, Wirth met with the team Tuesday morning. He will remain with the school as a religion teacher.
“We are grateful to Coach Wirth for his commitment of time and hard work and especially appreciative of his dedication to the young men of CCH over the last six years," Athletic Director Mike Guidugli said in a statement.
In addition to his head coaching duties, Wirth served as President of the Northern Kentucky Football Coaches Association for two years and has been actively involved in the Northern Kentucky/Southwest Ohio Football Coaches’ That’s My Boy Awards Banquet.
Guidugli said that Cov Cath would immediately begin the search process for a new head coach.
