One Local Store Not on List of Radio Shack Closures, Rest Will Go
When Radio Shack begins closing its stores across the country Northern Kentucky will have only one location left, if company documents are correct.
The iconic national gadget and electronics chain announced its bankruptcy filing last week and then released a list of stores that are slated to close in three phases. No local store is listed on among those 162 in the first phase which will close by February 17, according to Business Insider.
By February 28, 986 more stores will close, including the one on Winston Avenue in Latonia and the one on Dixie Highway in Erlanger. By March 31, another 636 will close, including the Houston Commons location in Florence.
Not on the list?
The stalwart location in Newport Plaza. It's not on the list, which is dubbed a "potential store closure list", according to The Wall Street Journal.
In all, 1,784 locations will close by the end of March. Going out of business sales have begun as of Friday.
National reports vary, but more stores than the 1,784 listed could potentially close as the company emerges from Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Stores that survive will be re-branded as Sprint stores.
