For MLB All-Star Game, NKY Business Leaders Kick Off "Baseball Across the Region" at Crosstown Shootout

Baseball Across The Region will kick off at this week's annual Crosstown Shootout between the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University, and will draw attention to the region's events leading up this summer's Major League Baseball All-Star Game which will be held at Great American Ballpark.
On hand to participate in the kickoff will be University of Cincinnati President Santa Ono, Xavier University President Michael Graham, S.J., Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley, Cincinnati Reds COO Phil Castellini, and Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau President/CEO Dan Lincoln.
The Cincinncati Community Organizing Committee's Baseball Across The Region efforts are being led by Brent Cooper, President of Covington-based C-Forward, and Ralph Dusing, President of Bluegrass Commercial Group. “We couldn’t be happier that UC and XU have agreed to host the Baseball across the Region kickoff during the Crosstown Shootout. Part of the goal of Baseball across the Region is to highlight some of our region's most celebrated events and the Crosstown Shootout is one of our best,” said Cooper, in a news release.
In preparation of the 86th Major League Baseball All-Star Game on July 14, the COC was formed in partnership with the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau to lead community efforts in support of All-Star Summer. Leading the COC are Sharry Addison, life-long volunteer, Melanie Chavez, principal at Chavez Properties, and Delores Hargrove-Young, president & COO XLC Services.
The COC is working with partners throughout the region to execute more than thirty initiatives in an effort to build advance excitement throughout the region in support of the All-Star Game. Baseball across the Region is one of the COC’s first initiatives to launch and will highlight the region's treasured neighborhoods, schools, businesses, non-profits, and community attractions.
“Just as the Olympics begins with the passing of the Olympic Torch, we are going to count down to the official MLB All-Star Game by passing an All-Star Summer
baseball throughout Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky,” said Chavez.
Announcements for future COC events, including Baseball across the Region, will be made in the coming months.  For more information on the COC, visit
