Photos: River Rises in the Northern Kentucky River Cities
More than two inches of rain have fallen on Northern Kentucky in the past two days according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio.
Combined with melted snow, the Ohio River was expected to crest at 58-feet on Sunday before it finally begins to recede. The Licking River also rose beyond original expectations.
All the Northern Kentucky River Cities took precautions and the flood gates occupied city crews all day as they prepared to block the water from entering the city centers. Some lower lying areas were not so protected and are currently submerged.
These photos are from Covington and Ludlow in Kenton County and Newport, Bellevue, Dayton, and other parts of Campbell County along Kentucky Route 8.
