Art Show Opens in Ludlow on Friday
This Friday, March 20, Ludlow cafe Wynners Cup will host "An Evening of Ludlow Art" from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. inside its space on Elm Street. The free show is a collaborative endeavor featuring both art and photography from four Ludlow High School graduates.
Shawn Voelker works as a professional artist who creates in a variety of styles but mainly focuses on sports paintings created for various athletes in the NFL, MLB, and NBA. His acrylic foil paintings are unique in that the foils change colors with a change in lighting or movement from the viewer. He can be found on Twitter and Instagram (@shawnvoelkercom) or on Facebook.
Chris Granger has a host of framed photography related to the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area. Chris's photography ranges from portrait work to cityscapes and his work is most identifiable by its bold colors. Chris's work can be seen at various stores and frame shops across the region. He can be found on Twitter.
Jeff and John Winkle are twin brothers who recently purchased an old building on Elm Street in Ludlow and are currently rehabbing the storefront, which will become their showcase studio. The two brothers work together on their pieces, with one providing the graphic element while the other uses their dad's "fine art painterly-style." The combined effect helps them produce one-of-a-kind creations usually containing landscape or cityscape elements. You can view more of the brothers' work on Facebook.
Host Wynners Cafe, owned by Ludlow mayor Ken Wynn, will be providing light finger sandwiches, snacks, and a wide array of drink choices. In addition to the art show, Wynn has also invited neighboring business Second Sight DIstillery to do tastings at the event. Second Sight Distillery will also be providing free tours of their facility next door throughout the evening.
