Man Pleads Guilty in Murder of Covington Teen
A fourth suspect has pleaded guilty in the murder of a Covington teen.
Jacob Cardenas, 18, appeared in Kenton County Circuit Court on Monday morning where he pleaded guilty to charges of murder and second degree assault in the 2013 shooting death of Desean Peterson in Covington's Eastside.
Peterson, 19, was shot to death in front of his home near 17th & Garrard Streets on October 27, 2013 in a drive-by. Three suspects have already pleaded guilty in Peterson's death and two others await trial. Cardenas was expected to go to trial on Tuesday.
Jamel Darden will go to trial later this month and Reginald Bates is scheduled for trial in May.
Kenton County Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Sanders and Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Casey Burns are recommending a 25-year prison sentence.
